Trade & Media Familiarization Information

Trade Familiarization is important as the trade personnel are invited by the Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority to travel to PNG and to all the different provinces to experience tourism products and attractions for themselves. A usual trade familiarization program is 12-17 days and can take trade personnel to at least 2-3 provinces or destinations sometimes four (4) depending on the agents or operators list of things they would like to experience. The emphasis here is to educate the trade so they can at least know the PNG products and sell them confidently.

The familiarization trip is organized in coordination with our destination representatives, inbound Tour Operators, Airlines, and the Accommodation industry. It is partly subsidized under the Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority’s marketing budget with assistance from other industry players. The visiting Journalists, Travel Agents, and Tour Operators are given a trip to several interesting destinations around Papua New Guinea to enable them to experience for themselves and build their knowledge of Papua New Guinea as a Tourist Destination.

You must be registered as a Travel Trade member to organize for a Familiarization trip. If you are a member get in touch with one of our Destination Representative Offices in Sydney, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Frankfurt, or London depending on your location to organize a trip.
